The Punjab government has chalked out a comprehensive strategy to exploit the full potential of tourism, said Tourism Secretary and Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Managing Director Hasan Nawaz Tarar.
During his visit to the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management at Madina Town here on Saturday, he said that tourism, an ambitious and thriving industry the world over, could also play a major role in the socio-economic uplift of this province, adding its potential remained unexploited only for the lack of political will.
Underlining the historic importance of Punjab, Hasan Nawaz Tarar said the province is a unique blend of old and new, with a conglomeration of historic, archeological, and recreational attractions.
Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi has initiated a plan to protect and conserve its historic heritage to improve existing tourist resorts, and introduce new attractions for foreign tourists, he said.
Tarar stressed the importance of trained manpower for tourism promotion in the hotel and hospitality industry which boosts economies world wide by promoting businesses, creating employment opportunities, and grossing handsome foreign exchange.
