ISLAMABAD: The export of jewellary from the country increased by 17.12 per cent during first 11 months (July- May) of the current fiscal year compared to the same period of last year.
The jewllary exports increased to $7.182 million in July-May
of the year 2015-16 from $6.132 million during same period of last year.
According to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Gems exports however witnessed a sharp decline of 50.64 per cent which was recorded at $3.695 million in the corresponding period compared to $7.486 million last year.
On year-on-year and month-on-month basis the jewellary export in May, 2016 also surged by 72.85 per cent and 27.5 per cent when compared it with the export of May, 2015 and April, 2016.
The jewellary exports increased from $0.641 million in May, 2015 and $0.869 million in April, 2016 to $1.108 million in May, 2016.
Gems exports, on month-on-month basis also witnessed a sharp increase of 96.37 per cent as it went up from $0.248 million in April, 2016 to $0.487 million in May, 2016.
On year-on-year basis, however the gems exports decreased by 37.8 per cent as it declined from $0.783 million in May, 2015 to $0.487 million in same month of current year.
