Poor welcome arrangements for Sultan Brunei: interior ministry asked to dismiss CDA DG
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sent a summary to the Ministry of Interior to remove CDA Director General Environment for sheer negligence on eve of Sultan of Brunei visit, informed sources told Business Recorder here on Wednesday.
Well-placed CDA sources told that the summary was sent to acting Secretary Interior, Abdul Rauf Chaudhry as Tasneem Noorani has been transferred to Ministry of Commerce. However, the action against DG Environment will be taken soon after the return of Interior Minister, Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat from London.
It may be mentioned here that as per official rules and regulations, Chairman of CDA is not authorised to remove the Grade 20 officer from the services, while he can only recommend it to Secretary Interior.
The CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari, in his recommendations, accused the DG Environment, Malik Mazharul Haq along with two senior deputy directors of negligence in performing their duty, sources added.
One deputy director is working in the Directorate of Municipal Administration while the other is serving in the environment wing.
President Musharraf took serious exception of the poor welcome arrangements made by the directorates of municipal administration and environment in honour of Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah.
For taking stern action against the officers responsible of this negligence, President called Kamran Lashari and Director DMA, Momin Agha from Turkey to conduct inquiry against them.
Sources said that detailed inquiry conducted by Chairman CDA held responsible the DG Environment for inadequate welcome arrangements.
It is to be noted that CDA staff during the visit of Sultan of Brunei hoisted the national flags without properly pressing the cloth at the Capital's main avenues from Islamabad Airport to the President House.
However, sources did not disclose the names of other two deputy directors.
The decision in this regard is expected in the next few days, it was reliably learnt.
