An amount of Rs 21.035 million would be spent on 34 schemes of brick lining of irrigation watercourses in different rural areas of Faisalabad district.
This was stated by EDO (Agriculture) Muhammad Ashraf Cheema, at a briefing. District Officer Water Management Sibtain Farooq Cheema, Assistant Director Agricultural Engineering Abdul Ghaffar Bhatti and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Giving details of the schemes EDO Agriculture said that Rs 7.166 million had been provided under the annual development programme of Punjab Government for 12 schemes of brick-lining of the water-courses, while an amount of Rs 12.869 million would be spent on 22 projects under the supervision of Citizens Community Boards and 80 percent share of this amount ie Rs 10.295 million would be provided by the district government while the remaining 20 percent had been collected by Citizen Community Boards through their own resources.
He said that the district government had provided Rs 9.249 million for making pucca irrigational water channels in different villages by according approval of 16 schemes.
The construction work on these schemes has been started. After the construction of these pucca water courses the problem of the wastage of water would be overcome and more agricultural land would be irrigated.
The farmers of the area have appreciated the farmers-friendly revolutionary steps being taken by the government.
