African finance ministers will meet with former Spanish Finance Minister Rodrigo Rato, the front-runner for the top job at the International Monetary Fund, in Washington on Sunday, Sudan's finance minister said.
Sudanese Finance Minister al-Zubeir Ahmed al-Hassan told reporters on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank's spring meetings on Saturday that African ministers would meet with Rato at 5 pm EDT (2100 GMT) on Sunday.
Ivorian Finance Minister Bohoun Bouabre said the three priorities for talks with Rato were pushing for greater representation for African countries on the IMF and World Bank executive boards, creating an African deputy director's position, and ensuring African problems were treated as priorities.
