Like others, children of Pakistan and India are also playing their role for friendship and lasting peace between the two countries, as a delegation of 21 children from India crossed in Pakistan through Wagah on Friday.
Indian children are visiting Pakistan under the banner of "Journey for Peace". They would attend various functions to be held in a bid to promote peace between the two countries.
According to information made available to Business Recorder, a 21-member Indian delegation of Rian International School was scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on April 22 but authorities concerned did not allow them to cross border.
Colours and canvas are waiting for art lovers and peace activists in Bagh-e-Jinnah Lahore on Saturday April 24 where in a colourful ceremony, Indian and Pakistani children will express their feelings about love, friendship and peace.
The Lahore City would witness cricket fever with new fervour as Rian Eleven (Team of Indian Children) and Doves Eleven (Team Pakistani children) would play a friendly cricket match on Sunday, April 25 at Wapda Stadium. Provincial Minister for sports, Sardar Naeem Ullah Khan Shahani would be chief guest.
A play entitled 'Billi Nachay Thumak Thumak' would be staged by Rian International School while a theatre 'Evolution' would be presented by Insan Naatak Pakistan.
A joint production stage drama 'Dosti' will be presented by Pakistani and Indian children. These plays will be arranged in the Auditorium of Ali Institute of Pakistan from April 26 and 27.
Insan Foundation Pakistan, an NGO is hosting the visit of Indian Children. Muhammad Mushtaq, Director of Insan Foundation said that this visit was aimed at promoting peace in the region.
He said that visit of children of both the countries would ensure lasting peace and added that Indian students were not allowed to visit other cities of Pakistan except Lahore.
It may be mentioned that another delegation of Indian children (under privileged) is already visiting Pakistan. These children left Lahore for Islamabad. They will also visit Larkana and Karachi.
Co-ordinator of the delegation, Ms Nusrat who is also a Programme Manager for 'Peace in Action Aid Pakistan' when contacted told this scribe that Indian children were getting warmly reception. Those children were giving a message of peace to the masses and it would ensure good relations between the two countries.
"We are also trying to bring a delegation of Pakistani children to India", she added.
