Sindh Finance Minister Sardar Ahmed has said that Sindh would not accept NFC Award based only on multiple criteria for the distribution of resources among the provinces.
He was talking to newsmen after the adjournment of Sindh Assembly session on Tuesday.
He said that Sindh's case had been advocated very effectively at all the meetings. Distribution of national resources from the divisible pool should be on the basis of revenue collection. Poverty and backwardness should also be taken into account, he added.
He said that he did not want others to suffer on any account but justice should be permitted to prevail.
He said that provinces have asked for 50 percent share from the pool for the federal government and 50 percent for distribution among the provinces.
He said it was unjustified to allocate 46 percent of the divisible pool for the four federating units. "It is unjust as even the previous NFC headed by Shaukat Aziz himself had agreed on 47.8 percent share for the provinces."
He said that NFC Award was not a political issue and it should not be politicised.
On 2.5 percent share of provinces from the GST collection, he said, on the basis of audited accounts of collection Sindh should get 46 percent, and 42 percent should go to the Punjab.
The provinces have also raised objection on levy of five percent collection charges and have suggested cutting it to two percent.
He said that there was proposal to discuss the NFC issue with the president and it would be better if the chairman of the NFC Award, federal finance minister, himself takes up the issue with him.
