Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Junaid Iqbal Chaudhry has constituted a working group to reduce the pollen allergy problem from the federal capital in the next season, in a high level meeting chaired by him here on Saturday.
The group consist of Dr Rubina Akhtar, National Agriculture Research Council, Dr Zubaida Ahmed, National Institute of Health, Anjum Bari, Meteorological Office, Gulzada Khan, Director (Environment) CDA and Syed Mahmood Nasir, DIG Forest.
The working group will submit a plan of action by Tuesday.
The implementation would be carried out in phases to bring down the pollen count in Islamabad without affecting the greenery of Islamabad.
The working group will keep in mind short term and long term practical measures, which may help to bring down the pollen count.
The chief commissioner directed the working group to provide the list of friendly trees in the next meeting and identify the areas, where the pollen concentration is high so that CDA could start working on the small patches of land.
The CDA would weed out allergy causing flowers and paper mulberry trees and simultaneously replace those with the environmental friendly trees without affecting the beauty and greenery of Islamabad.
