Federal Ombudsman Imtiaz Ahmad Sahibzada presented the 21st annual report 2003 to President General Pervez Musharraf on Saturday.
The report focuses on the performance of the office of ombudsman during 2003 in respect of registration, disposal, pendency of complaints and its comparative analysis in the context of previous years.
Out of a total of 37,634 complaints investigated during the year, over 22,000 have been decided. This is the highest disposal since 2001.
The President appreciated the performance of the ombudsman's office during the year 2003 and directed that it should continue its best efforts to redress the complaints of citizens and provide early relief to them.
The ombudsman thanked the President and stated that his support to the office has sustained its efforts in resolving the difficulties of citizens.
The report says that in the majority of cases, relief was provided to the citizens during investigation.
In other cases 'recommendations for implementation' were made of agencies response to the ombudsman's investigation process and implementation of recommendations was more encouraging than ever before which facilitated expeditious disposal and positive outcome in the majority of cases.
Out of 6,757 cases involving recommendations for implementation, 4,429 were implemented. This is the highest ever figure of implementation.
The remaining 2,328 cases, though delayed, are under implementation.
