The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday congratulated dashing opener Virender Sehwag for becoming the first ever Indian batsman to score a triple hundred in Test and said every Indian would 'love to remember' the innings for all time to come.
"The entire nation joins me and the BCCI in congratulating you for your magnificent triple hundred," BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya said in a faxed massage to Sehwag, who compiled 309 on the second day of the ongoing first Test against Pakistan at Multan.
It was an innings that every Indian would love to remember for all time to come - studded with gems and jewels of some excellent stroke play,' the message said.
Dalmiya also praised Sehwag for becoming the highest scorer in a Test innings by an Indian when he eclipsed the existing record of 281 held by V V S Laxman. The Hyderabad right hand middle order bat had achieved the feat against Australia at Eden Gardens in 2001.
"No word of praise is enough for the wonderful efforts that you had put in. But I am confident that you are capable of even bettering your own record," Dalmiya said, adding "keep up the good efforts for the rest of the series".
