The Lahore High Court (LHC) dismissed a petition filed by the Speaker Punjab Assembly Afzal Sahi praying to the court to reject the election petition filed against him by Chaudhry Liaquat Ali in which he prayed to the august court to direct the respondent election commissioner to hold fresh election in the constituency.
The petitioner contended that election petition filed against him was not maintainable.
He said that affidavits filed by the respondents in his election petition were not proper, hence the petition was liable to be dismissed.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, dismissed the petition and rose for the day to frame charges against him.
