The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) held a presentation for representatives of diversified industries on trade policy initiatives here on Saturday.
The presentation was held in collaboration with the Engineering Components and Machinery Manufacturers Association (ECMMA) at the premises of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
The presentation was for five different schemes including enterprise capacity building scheme meant for technology up-gradation, export marketing and joint ventures, promotion of made in Pakistan products, marketing and brand development for export promotion, brand name acquisition/franchising and scheme for freight subsidy on exports.
ECMMA Chairman, Rehmatullah Javed welcomed the EPB officials and said that Pakistan was standing at the cross roads where we need to address several global issues which included WTO free trade regime, influx of Indian and Chinese goods, and Safta.
He was of the view that industrial base of the country should be consolidated with latest technology, highly skilled labour and being competitive in the international market.
Participants of the presentation called for making these schemes beneficial for the SMEs.
