Tokyo rubber futures mostly finished a touch lower on Monday, but the prompt January contract rose slightly in its final session, providing some support.
The spot January rubber contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) expired on Monday at 137.4 yen, up 0.1 yen per kg from Friday's close, with 130 lots or 1,300 tonnes of deliveries.
That compared with last month's December contract expiry at 134.8 yen, which was down 8.1 yen on the day, with 79 lots of deliveries.
The benchmark June 2004 rubber contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange settled down 1.8 yen per kg at 143.9 yen.
Other months, with the exception of the January contract, fell by 2.0-2.7 yen.
The dollar was fetching 106.10/13 yen, against 106.18/21 yen at about the same time on Friday.
Turnover in TOCOM rubber was estimated at 8,838 lots, compared with 7,336 lots on Friday and 13,072 lots on Thursday.
Open interest stood at 61,450 lots as of the end of Friday, versus 61,922 lots on Thursday and 61,803 lots on Wednesday.
