An exhibition of Japanese calendars 2004 commenced at the V.M. Art Gallery, Rangoonwala Community Centre here on Monday.
The two-day event has been organised by Japanese Cultural Centre of Consulate General of Japan Karachi, in collaboration with Rangoonwala Community Centre.
As many as 125 calendars from Japan depicting traditional culture, art and crafts, nature, life style, scenic beauty and Ikebana etc have been put on display.
The acting Consul General of Japan in Karachi, Hitoshi Neki, said that viewing of the calendars of 2004 from Japan would help visitors to understand the Japanese culture as well as the printing and advertising techniques.
He hoped that as more and more people would turned up to witness the exhibition it would further promote the already exist friendly ties between Japan and Pakistan and the people of the two countries.
He was optimistic that the youths and the school children would also visit the exhibition along with their teachers.
The Director Current Affairs and General Manager of PTV Karachi centre, Athar Viqar Azim, who performed the opening of the exhibition, lauded the efforts of the organisers.
He was of the view that such events lead to increase friendship and understanding.
Azim said that Pakistan and Japan enjoy cordial relations, which were improving further with the passage of time.
The Director of Japan Cultural centre, Yuji Miyamoto, was also present on the occasion.
