Three people have been arrested for threatening Shaista Almani so far and Sindh Police is providing complete protection to her.
This was stated by Sindh Advisor on Home Affairs Aftab A Shaikh while talking to newsmen at Circuit House here on Sunday.
The Advisor said Muttahida Qaumi Movement was not doing politics but was endeavouring to end the tradition of 'Karo Kari', practised for centuries in Sindh.
Aftab said Shaista has complete confidence in Sindh government, and all persons threatening her would be arrested.
He said the leader of MQM has appealed to President Pervez Musharraf for taking steps to end the evil of 'Karo Kari'.
He said that the President has issued orders for taking steps in this regard. He said that people have to extend their co-operation for eliminating such traditions.
He said that latest technology was being used for the elimination of terrorism and crimes. Cameras have been installed at sensitive points and arrangements are made for training of police on new lines.
Aftab said police have shortage of resources and in view of demand of vehicles, personnel and ammunition these would be provided to them for curbing of criminals.
He said police has shown better output during year 2003 as compared to previous years and crime rate has declined in the province.
Regarding increase in highway dacoity incidents, he said that police has been directed to increase patrolling on highways and in big cities. He said the government was considering to impose restriction on dual carrying on motorcycle to control incidents of terrorism.
DCO Gul Muhammad Umrani, DPO Dr Ghulam Sarwar Jamali, Zonal organiser MQM Abdul Rasheed and others were present on the occasion.
