The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has emphasised the importance of preservation of cultural heritage of the country assuring that government would accord support for the purpose.
He said this while addressing the participants of the Cultural Karawan arranged by the Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan here on Sunday morning.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad said that Pakistan was very rich in cultural and historical heritage and it was our duty to make efforts for its preservation and create a massive awareness about our treasures.
He said the provincial governments would be approached to allocate special funds for the preservation of shrines of Sufis in various parts of the country.
He later seen off the Karawan.
It was the 100th Karawan during the last 10 years. About two hundred historians and scholars from Pakistan and abroad participated in the Karawan.
The cultural Karawan later visited the Rewat Fort, Loi Bheer, Mangla Fort and Mausoleum of Shahabuddin Ghauri.
