imageKnown for being comfortable and convenient Crocs have become one of the most popular shoes ever. But it turns out that these rubber shoes are not good for your feet.

Introduced in 2002, and selling more than 300 million pairs all over the world. Experts have warned that the comfy Crocs are not a suitable option for all-day use.

According to Huffington Post, Dr. Megan Leahy, a podiatrist from the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute in Chicago, explained that while Crocs do provide ample support for the arch of the foot, their design fails to adequately support the heel.

"Unfortunately Crocs are not suitable for all-day use," Dr. Megan Leahy, said. While she granted that they "offer nice arch support," she explained the reason behind why one shouldn't wear them over long periods of time.

"These shoes do not adequately secure the heel. When the heel is unstable, toes tend to grip which can lead to tendinitis, worsening of toe deformities, nail problems, corns and calluses. The same thing can happen with flip flops or any backless shoes as the heel is not secured," said Dr. Leah.

President of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine Dr. Alex Kor, said that that the most important feature in any shoe is the shank, the structure which supports between the heel and the toe. “Patients are more likely to have foot pain if their shoes bend in the shank,” said Kor.

Crocs, as per Kor, "are the 'poster child' for shoes with a flexible shank,” therefore, leads to pain in arch or heel.
