imageHis name is Craig Steven Wright, an Australian entrepreneur who has identified himself as Satoshi Nakamoto the mysterious creator of ‘Bitcoin’, the online currency.

According to BBC, the admission by Craig has laid down to rest the years of speculations of who is behind the virtual currency. Is it a hoax, well Wright has brought ‘technical proof’ to back his claim as the Bitcoin owner.

As a demonstration, the Australian digitally signed messages using cryptographic keys created during the early days of Bitcoin's development. The keys are linked to blocks of bitcoins known to have been created or "mined" by Satoshi Nakamoto.

image"These are the blocks used to send 10 bitcoins to Hal Finney in January [2009] as the first bitcoin transaction," said Mr Wright during his demonstration.

One of the founding directors of the Bitcoin Foundation, Jon Matonis, an economist says that he was convinced and Mr Wright was the person he claimed to be.

"During the London proof sessions, I had the opportunity to review the relevant data along three distinct lines: cryptographic, social, and technical," he said. "It is my firm belief that Craig Wright satisfies all three categories," he added.

Wright giving the reason behind coming into the light says it was to stop people hounding him and the people he cares about. “Some people will believe it, some people won’t, and to tell you the truth, I don’t really care,” he told.

As per Time, the bitcoin system was launched by “Satoshi Nakamoto” in 2009. It allows people to make peer-to-peer transactions without the need of an intermediary i.e. bank, by using a public ledger called a blockchain.
