KARACHI: Ambassador of Czech Republic to Pakistan, Jan Fury has emphasized on exploring ways and means to strengthen bilateral collaboration and bring the business communities of the two countries closer to each other.
KCCI statement on Friday said that during his visit to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the Ambassador said trade volume between the two countries was low but it has been gradually improving since 2013 which was a good sign.
Lot of potential existed to raise the current bilateral trade volume through collective efforts from both sides, Czech envoy added. Honorary Consul General of Czech Republic in Karachi Ahmed Ansari, President KCCI Younus Muhammad Bashir, Senior Vice President KCCI Zia Ahmed Khan, Vice President KCCI Muhammad Naeem Sharif, former president KCCI Majyd Aziz and KCCI Managing Committee members were also present.
Czech Ambassador advised the the business community of Karachi, which is the financial and economic hub of Pakistan, to focus on diversifying their exports as at present mostly textile products were being exported to Czech Republic.
The business community of Karachi could also export food and agricultural products. In return, he said, they could also benefit from the high-quality electronics, heavy machineries and information technology services and technologies being offered by Czech Republic.
He informed that Pakistani traders and industrialists would also be visiting Czech Republic later this year to look for possibilities of enhancing trade.
He also extended full support and cooperation to the business community in benefitting more from the generalized scheme of preferrences (GSP-plus) granted by the European Union.
President KCCI Younus Muhammad Bashir said KCCI was keen to strengthen trade ties and exploring new bilateral trade prospects with Czech Republic through increased interaction between the two business communities.
