According to local media report, compatriot Ahsan Raza said, “Dar is the pride of Pakistan who has been a great ambassador for the country wherever he went”.

“I don’t have words to sum up his marathon effort because when you talk about 100 Tests, it’s unbelievable. Personally, I don’t think that any other Pakistani, including me, would be able to achieve even half of what Dar has achieved”. He added, “I would urge the government and the Pakistan Cricket Board [PCB] to facilitate Dar as much as they can.”

“Dar is a complete role model not just for us but for anyone, even the cricketers,” further added Raza.

He has gone on to become one of the leading and most respected umpires in world cricket and was named as the ICC Umpire of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2011. He made his debut Test appearance three years later, when Bangladesh hosted England in Dhaka. Since then, he has umpired in 99 Tests, 178 ODIs and 35 T20 Internationals to date.
