imageKARACHI:- Chief Secretary Sindh, Muhammad Siddiqui Memon has directed the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of the province to personally monitor the Polio Eradication Campaign in their respective divisions and districts.

He directed this in a review meeting on polio eradication, held at Sindh Secretariat here, said a statement on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Health Ms. Saira Afzal Tarrar, Sindh Health Minister, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Senator Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq, Provincial Chief for Anti-Polio Drive Mrs. Azra Pechuho, Federal Secretary, Muhammad Ayub Shaikh, Additional Chief Secretary, Muhammad Waseem, Commissioner Karachi, Shuaib Ahmed Siddiqui and Coordinator Dr. M. Usman Chachar, also addressed the meeting.

The Minister for State noted that efficiency and punctuality must be ensured in the larger national interest, with the particular reference of Polio Eradication Programme.

The Sindh Health Minister said that despite pressure we have removed some officers, for their negligence.

Senator Ayesha appreciated the interest shown by the Sindh Government and Administration in performing the Anti-Polio Services.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui categorically stated that due action was is already in process against those officers who are not taking interest in the Anti-Polio drive.

The meeting decided that Commissioner Karachi would work as the Head of Karachi Task Force on Polio, he is also empowered to take disciplinary action against officers for their negligence, on behalf of the Chief Secretary Sindh.
