imageLAHORE: As almost two weeks are left for Eidul Azha, the second largest religious festival for the Muslims, cattle markets in the provincial capital have gained momentum with numerous buyers and hundreds of sacrificial animals.

A huge number of sacrificial animals are being brought for sale at different cattle markets.

Traders while talking to APP on Friday said there were plenty of supplies of cattle to the markets and their prices were exorbitant in some extent in comparison to the previous years Eidul Azha.

"There is no shortage of cattle supply to the markets despite total stoppage of importing cattle and buffalo from the neighbouring country this year", said Naeem, a trader.

The price of an ideal sized cow or buffalo starts from Rs 50,000 to 60,000 and a sheep or goat can be purchased from Rs 25,000. In addition to the city's biggest cattle market- Bakar Mandi some temporary markets have also been set up at different areas of the city.

On the other hand, traders and buyers seem satisfy over the arrangements made by the provincial government in cattle markets.

Najeebullah, Sabir and Munawar said that government has made satisfactory arrangements at six temporary cattle markets in Lahore. A team of veterinary doctors and paramedical staff is looking after the health issues of the sacrificial animals.

Water, electricity supply, proper parking is given to the dealers, they added.

An official of Punjab police said that all the necessary security arrangements have also been made for the dealers and costumers.
