ISLAMABAD: Catering service providers Friday staged a protest demonstration in front of the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at Banigala for the payment of rent for the tents installed during the party's 126-day sit-in in the Federal Capital.
Chanting slogans, carrying banners and placards, the traders of Aabpara Market led by tent service provider Ishtiaq Gujjar gathered outside the PTI chief's home where an important meeting of the party was in progress to delibrate on the report of the General Election Inquiry Commission.
Speaking on the occasion, Gujjar claimed that the PTI had to pay around Rs 4.6 million as rent for the tents provided by them during the sit-in. He contacted several leaders of PTI time and again, but in vain, he added.
Giving a three-day deadline to the PTI, he threatened to stage 'large-scale' protests on the city roads along with trade bodies of the Federal Capital from Monday.
Later, PTI's Central Information Secretary Naeem-ul-Haque came out of the Banigala residence and held talks with the protesters. He assured them to resolve the rent payment issue amicably.
