imageISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Metro Bus Service project Muhammad Hanif Abbasi Saturday said that it was a vision of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadrship to provide transport facilities to the people at par with the developed countries.

Pakistan Metro Bus service was a step towards that goal, where the people of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were enjoying modern transport facility, which was available to the residents of mega cities of European countries, the United States, Japan and China, he added.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the revamped service road of I-9 Industrial Area, which connects IJP Road to Kashmir Highway.

Abbasi said that the metro bus project was a gift of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for the residents of twin cities. Credit went to the chief minister and Rawalpindi commissioner for completion of this huge project in nine months, he added

He said that the Pakistan Metro Bus was a unique project, where the latest facilites were available at station such as escalators, stairs, elevators for the disabled, computerized ticketing system with air-conditioned buses. This project, he said, would be emoluted by other countries, he added.

He said that metro transport system provided a sense of preserving self-respect to the common people to travel in luxury buses to their workplaces at affordable fare.

He said that the PML-N leadership was also striving to provide latest health facilities to the people. In this regard, he cited Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC), equipped with modern medical equipmentproviding the best health services to the people of city and other areas.

He said that the under-construction Rawalpindi Kidney Transplant Centre would be completed soon. The University of Colombia of the United States had offered $245 million to set up Liver Transplant Centre, which would be constructed beside the kidney centre, he added.

Abbasi criticized Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan, saying that he was "politically immature". Imran should avoid criticism for the sake of criticism and let the government to work on its development agenda instead of creating hurdles, he added.

He assured the traders and industrialists of I-9 and Blue Area that he would take up their issues with the Prime Minister for their reolution.

The PML-N leader appreciated the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) for their support in completing the metro project.

The ICCI President and a large number of traders and industrialists attended the ceremony.
