ISLAMABAD: A Full Court meeting was held here on Thursday in the Supreme Court of Pakistan under the Chairmanship of Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk and it was noted that during the period from July 01, 2014 to March 14 the Court decided 10,942 cases against the institution of 10,291 cases, leaving total pendency of 22276 cases.
The Full Court meeting was attended by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed, Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman, Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Maqbool Baqar.
Syed Tahir Shahbaz, Registrar, Supreme Court of Pakistan also attended the meeting.
At the start of the meeting the Chief Justice of Pakistan welcomed all the Judges specially Justice Maqbool Baqar who was attending the Full Court Meeting for the first time after his elevation as Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Full Court observed that there is rising trend in institution of the cases yet disposal rate is higher than the institution and the Chief Justice appreciated the commitment and devotion of Judges for the cause of dispensation of justice.
The Full Court discussed the report of Committee of two Judges regarding amendments to be incorporated in the Supreme Court (Appointment of Officers and Servants and terms and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1982 and approved the draft rules with certain amendments.
The Chief Justice appreciated the services of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar for their efforts in this regard.
The matter regarding uploading of all the Judgments of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on official website of Supreme Court was discussed in detail and it was resolved that all the final Judgments approved for reporting will be uploaded on the Supreme Court official website.
Fixation of Jail Petitions involving sentence other than death before the court instead of their disposal by circulation in Chambers was discussed and it was decided that Jail Petitions be fixed in Court.
