LHC sets aside appointment of Akhtar Nawaz as DG PSB

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Thursday set aside an appointment of Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera as director general ,Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf passed the orders while allowing a petition filed by Zainul Aziz khan Babar challenging the appointment of Akhtar Nawaz.

Earlier, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the PPP government appointed Akhtar Nawaz as DG PSB in violation of merit in 2011. He said the respondent DG did not have required experience and education but despite that he was appointed the DG without advertising the post. He pleaded the court to set aside the appointment being illegal.

However, the respondents' counsel pleaded the court to dismiss the petition as the appointment was made on merit.
