TOKYO: Japan's factory production in December rose 1.0 percent on-month, turning up from a surprise drop in November, according to official data released Friday.
The reading fell short of a market forecast for a 1.3 percent increase but improved from a revised 0.5 percent fall seen in November.
"Industrial production shows signs of increase at a moderate pace," the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a monthly report.
