 KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity has been observed at the Port Qasim where seven ships carrying containers, wheat, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil were allotted berth at QICT, FAP, EVTL, FOTCO and LCT Terminals respectively on Tuesday, July 12. Meanwhile three more ships scheduled to load/offload containers also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was maintained at 85% at the Port on Tuesday where a total of ten ships namely Maersk Kalamata, C.V.Najran, UASC Dammam, C.V. Diamond Falcon, Topaz II, Golden Ambrosa, Sea Lion and Chem Road Fuji are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the port where a cargo volume of 63037 tonnes, comprising 41366 tonnes imports and 21671 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2626 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.

C.V. Najran Maersk Kalamata, UASC Dammam and Sea Lion sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while C.V. Pago and Chem Road Fuji will sail later today.
