imageISLAMABAD: Former veteran opening batsman Yasir Hameed aims to make a comeback for Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup saying he wants to play a significant role for the green-shirts at the mega event.

Yasir, who made his Test debut against Bangladesh in Karachi in August 2003 and scored centuries in both innings, said he is positive and looks forward to do well in future.

"I am hoping for a comeback into the national side and I have not fulfilled my potential but hope for an international return," he told Pakpassion.net.

Yasir said he wants to play for a significant role for Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup. "There is no such target in my mind for the domestic season, but I want to make sure I score as many runs as possible. I want to make use of every opportunity I get and not to throw my wicket away," he said.

Speaking about the standard of domestic cricket in the country, Yasir said there is no lack of talent in Pakistan. "We have some very fine players in our domestic cricket. There have been improvements made in our domestic cricket and if every player works hard and spends extra time working on his skills, the standard of cricket will improve," he said.

Yasir said we have a very good limited over squad. "IPL has created a lot of hype in India, but talent wise, we are far better than them. The players in our domestic cricket are much more capable than theirs," he said.

Yasir said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) needs to conduct at least three or four training camps a year to improve the level of fitness of the players. "I am sure the PCB would be aware of it and they will implement it ahead of the upcoming World Cup," he said.

Yasir said there had been many lapses in selection when he was around. "I wish we had more people like Moin Khan, Shoaib Mohammad, Ijaz Ahmed and Wajahatullah Wasti as selectors who respect players and who have an eye to pick good players," he said.
