imageDHAKA: Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for breaching the players' code of conduct during the game against New Zealand in Chittagong, the International Cricket Council said on Monday.

Dilshan was found to have shown dissent at an umpire's decision during his team's 59-run win over New Zealand in the Group one match which lifted Sri Lanka into the semi-finals.

"The incident happened in the fourth over, when Dilshan rubbed his elbow after the ball deflected off his gloves to the wicketkeeper to indicate that the ball had not touched his gloves," an ICC release said.

The level 1 charge was brought by on-field umpires Rod Tucker of Australia and Aleem Dar of Pakistan, third umpire Bruce Oxenford and reserve umpire Steve Davis -- both from Australia.

Dilshan admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee David Boon of Australia on Monday.

All level one breaches for this offence carry a penalty of a warning or reprimand.

In addition, players may be fined up to 50 per cent of the applicable match fee.

It is not publicly known how much Dilshan was paid for that game.

Dilshan made eight in his team's total of 119 all out. New Zealand were bowled out for 60 -- their lowest-ever Twenty20 total.

Sri Lanka will face the winners of Pakistan-West Indies match on Tuesday in the first semi-final, scheduled for Dhaka on Thursday.

India meet South Africa in the second semi-final, also in Dhaka on Friday.
