LAHORE: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal said economy of the country was improving and trust of friendly countries on Pakistan's government was also reviving.
Talking to media at a local hotel on Tuesday, the minister said in past the foreign investment had shrunk, but "things are changing and foreign investors are coming to Pakistan now".
He further said that Pakistan's friendly countries believe that the investment made in Pakistan would now be utilised for the betterment of people.
Ahsan Iqbal said that things were heading towards betterment due to the steps which government had taken during last 7 to 8 months as Pak rupee strengthened against the dollar.
He said that the government had signed energy generation projects with China through which 22,000 megawatts (MW) of energy will be added to the system, adding that change would be felt and witnessed with the passage of time.
He said that the government has accelerated work on Diamer Bhasha Dam and the project's land acquisition process was being completed. "Water conservation is vital otherwise water shortage would surface", he cautioned.
The minister said that Dasu Dam would give electricity but Bhasha dam has the facility of saving water as well.
To a question Ahsan Iqbal said, "We want good relations with all our neighbours, including India and Afghanistan".
