Bollywood’s veteran hero Manoj Kumar (“Mera Naam Joker”) plans to sue Shahrukh Khan and Eros International for Rs. 100 million for airing objectionable parts of their film “Om Shanti Om” at its Japan screening earlier this year, despite the Mumbai civil court orders that they delete the scenes.
Farah Khan’s 2007 hit musical rom-com “Om Shanti Om” starring SRK and Deepika Padukone in the lead, allegedly had a spoof of Manoj Kumar, and the 2010 Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award-winner was not pleased. So he took the producers (SRK and Eros International) to court and in 2008, the Mumbai civil court ordered them to permanently remove those scenes from all print and broadcast material of the film. However; at its recent screening in Japan, Kumar was shocked to find that the undesired scenes were nowhere near deleted.
Now Manoj Kumar is threatening to file a lawsuit against the “My Name Is Khan” star and Eros International for Rs.100 million for disrespecting him and also on the charge of contempt of court.
