LCCI welcomes establishment of PLPA
LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has welcomed a government decision to establish Pakistan Land Port Authority (PLPA) and demand of the government give proper representation to the private sector in it.
In a press statement issued here on Friday, former LCCI Vice President and Pak-India Trade Promotion Committee convener Aftab Ahmad Vohra said the government deserved appreciation as the decision would help increase the volume of trade across the border.
He said that private sector representation at federal and provincial levels would ensure implementation of decisions in letter and spirit. "At least, 50 percent members should be taken from the private sector," he added.
The former LCCI vice president said, "It is a welcome sign that the government has accepted the LCCI's demand for establishment of such an authority on land borders to transform ports into efficient facilitators of trade".
