ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have established a cyber crime unit to deal with cyber and electronic crimes effectively.
This unit has been established following the directions from Inspector General of Islamabad Police Bani Amin Khan under the supervision of DIG Headquarters while AIG Operations and Director-IT will also assist to ensure its smooth functioning.
According to police sources, this unit will perform as specialized unit of Islamabad Police to deal with all crimes/investigations related to technology.
It will be responsible to exclusively assist the investigating officers in cyber/electronic crimes committed through email, social network or any mean of electronic/ website defacement.
This unit will also be responsible for forensic of digital evidence and its confidentiality. This specialized unit will be interconnected with CID, Special Branch and Operational departments of Islamabad Police.
