RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Agriculture Department has advised the farmers to ensure sowing of Corn seed with appropriate ploughing by August 15 for getting better results.
The Punjab Seed Corporation is providing services to supply quality seeds to farmers, adding that hybrid seeds are equally suitable for both the Kharif and Rabi seasons, a spokesman of the department said in a press release issued here.
The seeds have the capacity to produce 90 to 100 and 100 to 120 maund production per acre in the Kharif and Rabi seasons respectively, he said.
The spokesman said plants of the good crops could be used as animal fodder as these remain green for long time as compared to other plants.
He suggested the farmers to sow 12 to 15 kg seeds in drill-farming per acre while in traditional form of cultivation the average sowing should be around 8 to 10 kg per acre.
