The rupee showed mixed trend against the dollar in the currency market on Monday.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: The rupee lost two paisas against the dollar for buying at Rs 166.82 and it gained 11 paisas for selling at Rs 166.79.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee dropped by 20 paisas versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 166.20 and Rs 166.70 respectively, according to market sources.

The national currency was trading versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 180.00 and Rs 182.00 respectively, they said.

The first Asian trade, commodity currencies slipped against their safe-haven rivals such as the dollar and yen on Monday as a record output cut agreed by OPEC and other oil producing nations failed to offset broader concerns about slumping global demand.

The greenback drifted higher against its Australian and New Zealand counterparts, widely seen as barometers for market risk, in a sign investors remain concerned about the consumption outlook for commodities.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at 76.400, the greenback was available at 4.318 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 7.047 in terms of the Chinese yuan.
