Parliament-ary Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Minister for Communications Murad Saeed again came face to face in the National Assembly as the latter asked the opposition not to make Youm-e-Takbir controversial to hide anybody's corruption. Speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly, Asif said that May 28 is the day when Pakistan's defence was made invincible but unfortunately the person who laid foundation of nuclear programme was hanged and the person who completed it has been imprisoned.
He said that Youm-e-Takbir is the day to remember late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif. "One of these prime ministers was hanged to death while the other prime minister is in Kot Lakhpat jail," he said, adding those who made Pakistan a nuclear power were hanged or sent to prison. In the meantime, the members sitting on treasury benches also lodged a protest as Asif used this opportunity to mention Sharif's name in his speech with particular reference to nuclear tests carried out on May 28, 1998. He said that May 28 is the day to remember leaders like Sharif who are well-wishers of the nation.
Responding to Asif, Saeed said if any of the leaders is in Kot Lakhpat jail, he landed there because of committing corruption. "The opposition should not make May 28 controversial to hide anybody's corruption," he added. He said that this is the day to recognise and appreciate nuclear scientists like Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan who made the country a nuclear power. He said that Pakistan is faced with internal and external challenges and time warrants unity to tackle them.
