UNITED NATIONS: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi began his round of engagements in New York Monday when he attended a special ministerial meeting of the Conference of Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA).
In his remarks, he congratulated Tajikistan for assuming the chairmanship of the organization and commended China, its predecessor, for its leadership and giving vitality to the CICA.
The foreign minister welcomed Sri Lanka to the CICA fraternity as a full member.
He said the diversity, potential and the challenges that the Asian region faces, had great relevance to CICA.
Pakistan, he said, would continue to participate actively and work with the CICA members for constructive engagement.
