Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 162,967 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,291 tonnes of import cargo and 32,676 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 130,291 comprised of 68,621 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 385 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 40 tonnes of Tyre Scrape and 61,245 tonnes of Oil and Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 32,676 tonnes comprised of 29,411 tonnes of containerized cargo, 874 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 691 tonnes of Corn and 1,700 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

Some, 8629 containers comprising of 5608 containers import and 3021 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 832 of 20’s and 2235 of 40’s loaded while 46 of 20’s and 130 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 348 of 20’s and 938 of 40’s loaded containers while 401 of 20’s and 198 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Some, 05 ships namely, Oriental Hibiscus, Seamax Westport, Oel Kedarnath, Bw Yarra and Lu Yang Shun have berth at Karachi Port.

Nearly 03 ships namely, Diyala, Viking Drive and MT Lahore have sailed out from Karachi Port.

About 05 ships namely, Osaka, Teera Bhum, Xin Hong Kong, X-Press Bardsey and Sea Wolf were expected to arrive on the same day.

PORT QASIM

A total of 13 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, two ships, Celsius Mumbai and Al Salam left the Port on Wednesday morning, while five more ships, Leonora Kosan, CS Calvina, TeeraBhum, MSC Rita and Maersk Kensington are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

A cargo volume of 153,962tonnes, comprising 120,557 tonnes imports cargo and 33,405 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 6,038 Containers (4,531 TEUs Imports and 1,507 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 13 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them 05 ships, Asphalt Express, Borno, Asia Evergreen, Encelia and Xin Hai Tong & three more ships, Xpress Bardsey, Saif Marine Ngami and Irenes Ray Scheduled to load/offload Bitumen, LNG, Palm oil, Furnace oil, Coal and Containers are expected to take berths at MW-2, PGPCL, LCT, FOTCO, PIBT and QICT on Wednesday, 13th April-2022.
