Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, currently leading a delegation to Germany, has convinced the German Parliamentarians, politicians and corporate sector people that conducive economic climate was prevailing in Pakistan.
He informed German people about steps taken by the government to protect foreign investors' interests which has created hope for huge inflow of German investment in Pakistan, said a Chamber's spokesman here on Saturday.
Misbah said LCCI delegation was making sincere efforts to supplement government's efforts to bring in maximum foreign investment, and also highlighted the soft image of Pakistan.
The LCCI delegation is comprised of vice president Sheikh Mohammad Arshad, Executive Members Abdul Basit, Mian Muzaffar, Mubasher Sheikh, Khawaja Imtiaz Ahmad, Aamir Qadir, Munawar Hussain Malik and Moaz Mohiuddin.
The LCCI delegation in a meeting with the German Parliament's Member Klaus Werner apprised him about the economic turnaround made by the Pakistan's economy in recent years.
Misbah said Pakistan has transformed itself into a stable regional economy and an investment friendly state. He said it was high time that foreign investors should take advantage of the situation by making investment in their fields of choice. He said policies have been so liberalised that all foreigners have a free access to stock markets and there was no restriction on repatriation of profits.
Klaus Werner lauded the efforts of LCCI in highlighting the image of the country. He also eulogised LCCI for undertaking a tour to Europe in a bid to enhance business ties.
The delegation also met Hans-Wolfgang Busch, head of Asian Countries and Multilateral Division, German Ministry of Economics and Labour, wherein important business issues regarding bilateral trade between Pakistan and Germany were taken up.
The Head of Business Development Corporation of Germany Christian Trichel met the LCCI delegation at Chancellor House and apprised the members of difficulties the German businessmen were facing in identifying right business people in Pakistan.
The LCCI president gave a detailed briefing to Christian Trichel on the salient feature of Pakistan economy and steps taken by government for protection of foreign investments. The meeting with NUMOV officials was also held in a very cordial and conducive atmosphere. During the meeting, it was agreed that both sides would make more concerted and sector-specific efforts to increase two-way trade between Pakistan and Germany.
