BUDAPEST: The National Bank of Hungary is not fretting about the forint's course despite recent pressure pushing the currency toward stronger levels, Vice Governor Laszlo Windisch told Reuters on Thursday.
"There is no exchange rate target," he said at the sidelines of a news conference.
"We only consider the exchange rate if it affects the country's inflation path. (The forint's recent gains) did not trigger alarms."
The bank has said it would maintain the current record low interest rate of 1.35 percent for the entire two-year policy horizon and employ non-conventional tools if loosening was necessary.
