imageBOGOTA: A Colombian father who forced his 11-year-old daughter to swallow dozens of cocaine-filled capsules and tried to make her a drugs mule was sentenced to more than 14 years in prison, authorities said Saturday.

Diego Mancilla Aguilar was convicted on charges of attempted aggravated murder, drug trafficking and use of a minor in the commission of a crime.

Mancilla made an agreement with prosecutors in which he was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison, a judicial source said. A judge signed off on the deal.

The man was captured November 21, 2014, three days after authorities discovered the child.

Doctors found that she had 500-600 grams (about 18 ounces) of cocaine inside her, contained in 104 capsules.

The girl had complained of pain when she returned to her mother's house after spending time with her father.

According to authorities, the girl was supposed to have flown to Europe -- probably Spain -- with the capsules in her body.

Along with Peru, Colombia is one of the world's largest producers of cocaine.
