imagePESHAWAR: Stage has been set for re polling on about 360 polling stations in connection with the Local Government elections in Khyber Pakthunkhwa scheduled to be held on Thursday (tomorrow).

The Election Commission of Pakistan has completed all the arrangements for the smooth holding of re polling in the said polling stations that would be held in 14 districts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa on Thursday, official sources in Provincial Election Commission Office told APP on Wednesday.

The re- polling would be held in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Abbottabad, Manshera and Buner districts. The polling would start at 8am and will continue till 5pm without any break. The voters inside the premises of polling stations would be allowed to cast their votes before starting of counting of ballot papers.

In KP, the total registered voters are 465600 including 211317 male and 254283 male for whom the ECP has setup 360 polling stations including 89 for male, 170 for female, 101 combined besides 1290 polling booths for voters' facilitation.

In Peshawar, as many as 73320 registered voters including 43888 male and 29432 female would exercise their right of franchise to elect their representatives for district, tehsil, general councilor and other seats concerned seats. The ECP has established 29 polling stations and 108 polling booths for the registered voters in Peshawar.

The polling staff including 360 presiding officer, 3870 assistant presiding officers and 1290 polling officers and other necessary staff has been reached to the concerned polling stations. The police and law enforcement agencies personnel have also reached to the polling stations to perform duties.

As per the security arrangements for the re polling, police officials told APP that irrelevant persons and vehicles would not be allowed to enter the polling stations and there would be zero tolerance for those taking law into their hands and found involved in violence and quarreling and such elements would be put behind the bar without any discrimination.

The police have been directed to make video film of any untoward incident so that it could be used as solid proof against those taking law into their hands.

Except presiding officer, no one will take mobile phone in the polling stations and armed person will not be allowed to enter the polling station premises and entry of men in women polling station will be strictly prohibited.
