Afridi team is all set to take down Zimbabwe in an upcoming T20 match commencing from May 22. PCB has announced 15-man squad to be lead by Boom Boom Afridi.
The 15-man squad also sees the return of batsman Umar Akmal who was left out of the Bangladesh tour for exhibiting a ‘poor attitude’ during the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in February and March. There are two uncapped players, 19-year-old opening batsman Noman Anwar who has been in prolific form and all-rounder and former Pakistan U19 captain Imad Wasim, local media reported.
Pakistan’s off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is not part of the current squad as he needs some time to gain back his confidence.
The squad includes, Shahid Afridi (captain), Sarfraz Ahmed, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Mukhtar Ahmed, Noman Anwar, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Rizwan, Anwar Ali, Hammad Azam, Imad Wasim, Bilawal Bhatti, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Sami.
Previously, Shahid Afridi squad showed poor game during the Bangladesh tour last month. Now the team is all set to face Zimbabwe on their home ground.
The Twenty20 matches are scheduled to be played on Friday (May 22) and Sunday (May 24). According to the security plan, the travelling route for the cricket teams would be completely blocked and a security equivalent to that of the President would be provided.
