imageAs Pakistan selection committee made the final call about their 15-man squad for World Cup 2015 there were many criticisms for choosing players like Sohail Khan, who came out of nowhere to join the team. And then there were players like Fawad Alam, who seemed to be a certain choice till a few months back but didn’t made his place in final squad.

Many believe that Pakistan could have picked a better squad for the World Cup but the selection committee is quite confident about the choice they have made for the mega event.

With many key players missing from the final squad, the team preparation is not ideal to face teams like Australia, Sri Lanka and England. But, Pakistani coach Waqas Younis believes that the team will be a surprise package in an upcoming World Cup 2015.

He said, “We had fitness issues with our pace bowlers for the last few months and it has unsettled us but those selected must now put their hands up. I am happy our team is not tagged as favourites in the event it will help take the pressure off the players. Being favorites only adds to the pressure on players because of the high expectations from them,” media reported.

According to media reports, Wahaz Riaz, Junaid Khan, Ahmed Shehzad, Shahid Afridi and Mohammed Irfan can be considered as strong players in Pakistan national squad. While players like Shoaib Maqsood, who has not done enough despite being handed many chances over the years can be considered as a weak link in the team.

There’s no high expectation from the Pakistani cricket team in an upcoming World Cup and as per recent predictions by experts, Pakistan will not be able to make it to the final four.
