KARACHI: Gamers believe that pizza and games go together like movies and popcorn. Whether or not that’s true, Pizza Hut has teamed up with Microsoft to come up with an Xbox 360 application that enables players to order pizza via their console.
The Pizza Hut application displays the menu, which gamers can then choose from by giving voice commands or simply gesturing via Kinect. That eliminates the tedious job of locating one’s phone in the middle of a fervent Need for Speed race, looking up the number and then talking over delivery details with an operator. Instead, one can simply pause the game, switch to the application and use hand motion to get that cheesy delight delivered right to your doorstep. The application will also be connected with Facebook
It reportedly offers the entire menu as well as a 15% discount to gamers who avail themselves of the offer in the first two weeks. Also, according to sources, Pizza Hut intends to integrate exclusive rewards linked to the application later.
This is a one-of-a-kind collaboration, and serves a symbiotic purpose. While it promotes Pizza Hut as the only food chain linked to a gaming console and Xbox as the only console connected to a food chain, it brings commerce directly to the console unlike ever before. It provides Pizza Hut a clever platform to target its young male audience. Moreover; it renders the gaming experience more realistic by following up gesture controls with real-world results.
David Walsh, a former champion Halo player has signed on with Pizza Hut to promote the application. He reportedly said that he is excited about this first-ever Xbox Live application that brings reality to gaming because it allows users to order with hand motion like Tom Cruise in “Minority Report.”
