(Karachi) Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to make Corona Relief Tigers Force operational in Sindh.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, Dar said that prime minister has tasked Sindh Governor Imran Ismail to lead the force.

He maintained the Sindh government has been creating hurdles in way of the Tigers Force and its operations in the province. At least 154,000 volunteers are ready to discharge responsibilities in Sindh, which includes, engineers, doctors and a large number of youth.

He pointed out that that the force volunteers will point out the problems being faced by the people. However, they will not take action.

Usman said Sindh government is creating an impression that the federal government is not willing to work together which is not true.

"The Tigers Force will only perform tasks given to it and will not indulge in other matters," he stated. "Tigers Force will also help in implementing SOPs on Eid congregations," Dar said.

He said that perception is being built that since the lockdown has been eased now, the roles and responsibilities of the force will no longer be needed. “I want to clarify that with the ease, SOPs are coming as well.

“Volunteers been working on ensuring the implementation of these measures,” the assistant said.

After Eid, the volunteers will be engaged in greater responsibilities. Dar assured that the force works free of any political affiliations and only aims to help people free of cost. “We want to clarify that we will not use the public’s money on the printing of caps and shirts for the volunteers.”

The assistant expressed his disappointment over the way the Sindh government rejected the concept of Tiger Force. “This is an additional support the federal government is giving to them,” he said.
