UK's Johnson promises Irish PM no physical border checks: official

LONDON:British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday spoke to his Irish counterpart for the first time since taking office, vowing no new physical border checks after Brexit, his office said.

He told Leo Varadkar in a phone call that even if Britain left the European Union without a deal on October 31, he "will never put physical checks or physical infrastructure on the border", a spokesman said.
