Fans question ICC rules after dramatic World Cup final
England won by zero runs and New Zealand loss by zero runs, which was the case on Sunday after the hosts England claimed their maiden ICC World Cup trophy at Lords.
Despite being one of the finest finale cricket has ever produced, the match was not without its controversies as fans questioned the International Cricket Council (ICC) rules, and were of the view that the World Cup title should have been awarded to both teams rather than England, as no team was able to outdo each other on the number of runs.

This World Cup should have been shared. If England got more boundaries. New Zealand took more wickets. So the criteria is absurd. All 22 of those boys gave their everything and no one was lesser. Then why do only 11 get to feel like they were the best.

ICC rules still need lots of improvements. Umpiring has been average in this World Cup, needs to be more automated. Weathers conditions of the host country should be well analyzed. Number of reviews should be increased. Umpires calls concept should be removed.

Could it be decided by the no of wickets lost? Would that reduce flair and risk-taking? Could it be decided by no of runs minus extras? Does that paper over some deficiencies? Should a cricket match have joint winners if a super over is tied?
