FAISALABAD: Deputy Counsel General, Chinese Consulate in Lahore, Peng Zhengwu said on Monday the import of Pakistani mango to China would be doubled by next year due to its unique aroma and taste.

During his visit to the Confucius Institute, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, he said that ties between China and Pakistan in agricultural sector were strengthening further.

He said that Xinjiang Agriculture University and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad were enjoying excellent cooperation not only in the area of education but also in research and development programmes, adding that collaborations would bring fruitful results.

He told the audience that under the banner of Confucius Institute, UAF, around 7,000 students had learned the Chinese language which would further boost people-to-people contact.

He was of the view that China gave the great honor of Pak-China friendship and regarded Pakistanis as their time tested friend.

UAF Registrar Muhammad Hussain said that Sino-Pak friendship was deeper than the sea and higher than Himalayas and sweeter than honey. He said the university was housing Confucius Institute under which thousands of students were being imparted education about Chinese language, culture and cooking etc.

"We are enjoying time-tested bilateral relations based on mutual cooperation aimed at making the world more prosperous and peaceful," he said.

He said that Pakistan China Economic Corridor would bring prosperity in the region and would prove to be game changer.

He added that Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to China had opened up new horizon of boosted collaborations.

Vice Chairman Confucius Institute at UAF Dr Ashfaq Chatha said that under the Confucius Institute, as many as 300 students and faculty members were sent to China for education.

He said that China had sponsored Rs 1 million to establish new building of CI-UAF which would be completed by next year.

He said that CI-UAF had been declared best institute in Asia.

Director Research Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir also spoke on the occasion.
